A STATEMENT FROM ME

Fellow Members of the Computer Society

Thank you for visiting my website.  This site contains detailed information about the Computer Society and how you, the members,  will benefit from my ideas, my plans, and my leadership as President.  Mostly it's about why I believe that I have the vision, vitality, and discipline to lead the Computer Society to better serve YOU.  By electing me President, among many, many other things you can expect:

  • You will have a Society that will try to provide products and services that YOU want rather than what others think you want;

  • You will have a Society that will offer YOU better opportunities to network with peers and colleagues around the world – through the Internet, wireless, and other technologies;

  • You will have a Society that will help YOU do your job better by offering more Web-based information;

  • You will have a Society that can help YOU through uncertain economic times by providing career information;

  • You will have Society leaders that will reinvigorate our field and the Computer Society by reaching out (I hope with your assistance)  to recent graduates and  to students.

I know your time is valuable, so I've made this site easy to navigate and easy for you to quickly learn more about my plans for the Society.  The navigation links on this website are:

  • WHAT I THINK – my thoughts, plans, and strategies that will make the Computer Society a more valuable professional resource for you.

  • WHAT I'VE BEEN - –my experiences as a Computer Society volunteer, industry practitioner, and tenured professor - that will help make the Society more valuable to its members.

  • WHAT I'VE DONE – my accomplishments at the Computer Society and within the computing profession as a volunteer, a practitioner, and an academic.

  • WHAT I'VE WRITTEN - the ideas, both academic and practical, that I have advanced in my career.

To learn more about the leadership that I would bring to the Computer Society presidency, I  invite you to visit the Computer Society’s Career Watch website where you can listen to a podcast/interview entitled, Technology and Teaching; An Interview with Sorel Reisman.

You can also read more about my strategic planning initiatives by downloading my white papers:

I hope that you'll find all this information useful and that you will support me as a collaborative and action-oriented President in the upcoming election.  I invite you to contact me at 657 278 3325 or email to sreisman@computer.org

Thanks for your support.
